Avon Schools Tournament - Juniors & Intermediates

Group Boys Winners

Group Girls Winners

Excited to have zero restrictions, last Sunday 19th June, saw 85 players from 12 schools across Avon compete in the Junior & Intermediate Avon School Tennis Tournament. Families brought their picnic blankets and canine mascots to celebrate Fathers Day watching tennis.

Avon Tennis are delighted to see many schools across the county taking part. We look forward to encouraging as many schools as possible to take part again next year.

Many moments were captured and we've had to collate a small film.

Thanks to Brewin Dolphin’s partnership and Clifton College for hosting the event at their sports ground. Players and spectators had a good day out, in fabulous sunshine, with a great BBQ lunch thrown in for good measure.

Referee report:

Play started at 10:15am and continued until 5:15pm.

Brilliant to report that Churchill Academy sent in the smallest team with two players and they won Intermediate Doubles. Both players were semi-finalists in singles, with one going on to play in the final.

A competitive days tennis led to a close fought Boys final between Colston's School and Clifton College.

Clifton took the first singles rubber, while the second was won by Colston’s in a tense set tie-break. That left the doubles as the last match of the day, to decide the overall winner. Clifton College eventually came out on top to claim the trophy.

The Girls event was also close, but again Clifton came out on top with their first and second teams claiming both winners and runners up trophies.

Colston's did win four out of the six events.
