Toby Huddlestone wins LTA Performance Coach of the Year Award

Toby Huddlestone, from Almondsbury & Bradley Stoke TC and Olveston and Tockington TC has won Avon Tennis Performance Coach of the Year Award.

The LTA-backed award is based on criteria such as developing a player or group of players, innovation, professionalism and integrity.

Nominees noted that "Toby always encourages fair play but also builds the confidence in players to speak up when they feel they should. Toby has recently provided the children with their own tennis journals, encouraging them to complete after a Match or Tournament. This has been a great tool for my children to use in order to self-reflect after what can be, very emotional games. It allows them time to think about what went well, what could have gone better and what they might do differently next time."

Toby is always available for parents to ask questions or learn more about what the children are doing and has also encouraged a few of the parents to start playing tennis too. I can honestly say that Toby, through his expert and innovative coaching has created a love for tennis in my children's groups which is contagious."

Toby will now go forward with other county winners to a regional judging panel for the south and south-west with the regional winners announced in April. The national ceremony will be held in London in July.

These awards recognise and champion the people who deliver tennis locally and are split into 13 categories.
