9U Girls met at Team Bath Tennis to play Surrey, Herts, Middlesex and Warwickshire. A big competition day.
After a round of singles we were 3-1 down against Middlesex and Hertfordshire, 4-0 against Surrey and drawing 2-2 with Warwickshire so we had a bit of digging to do. By that stage Surrey had already won, not dropping a set!
With 3 matches still live, we managed to win both doubles against Hertfordshire and Middlesex and going into shootout tiebreaks, which we both lost 10-4 and 10-6 respectively. With Warwickshire, we drew again in the doubles winning 1 and losing 1 and went into shootout, which we finally won 10-8.
In the end we came 4th, but if we'd won the shootouts we would have come 2nd! All of the team, showed great attitude and fighting spirit. Eleanor Chapman even got a special award for the best 'Score Calling'! Molly, Eleanor, Freya, Emilia and Emma did their best, but were a bit unlucky with the shootouts. Overall this was a satisfactory outcome and great experience. Considering the tournament went for over 8hours they also showed a great focus and ability to support each other as a team. Well done 9U Girls.
