So how did the 14U Team represent England?

Representatives from Avon Tennis’ 14 and under Girls and Boys teams are off to represent England at the LTA Junior Home Nations Championship, in Scotstoun, Glasgow this weekend.

Both the boys and girls teams performed so well in the LTA County Cup age group tournament, girls crowned as National Champions and the boys featuring in the National Finals, that they have been asked to represent England as the 14 and under team. It’s a great honour for Avon Tennis to represent England and it is fantastic for our young players that their performance has been recognised at a National level.

The three girls and three boys have been chosen by their current tennis ranking and availability and fly off to Glasgow on Thursday accompanied by three Avon Tennis coaches. They will play matches against the hosts Scotland and then Wales before returning to Bristol on Sunday.

The Avon team will include a female player who featured in this year’s inaugural 14 and under international event The Championships at Wimbledon, finishing as a credible semi-finalist, so hopefully her experience will help her across the border.

“We are extremely proud of how our junior squads have trained and performed throughout the year and for these young players to represent England in the Junior Tennis Home Nations is a real honour. It is a testament to their individual ability, dedication and on-court performance. A special thanks should also go to their parents and our team of coaches ….. a real team effort” said Executive Committee Member, Ian Alexander, “The experience to represent England at such a high level will play a serious part in their ongoing development. They should be proud of themselves.”
