A spirited and fighting attitude by Avon's Girls 14 and under team at the National Finals held in Nottingham at the weekend resulted them finishing 7th in the country - a great result for the team, led by team captains Ellie and Lizzie, of Aryana, Dhruthi, Edie, Izzy, Lolita and Sofia.
Day 1 resulted in losses against Lancashire and Middlesex (the eventual age group winners) despite playing tremendous tennis.
Sunday (day 2) was more nail-biting with an intial draw in ties, 3-3, against Leicestershire. Unfortunately we lost in a shoot-out 7-10!
Next, the girls played South Wales and once again the match was 3-3 but this time, even though 5-1 down in the tie-beak, fought back to win the tie.... finishing 7th in the country.
Well played girls..... once again flying the flag for Avon in a truely positive manner.
