Sodbury Tennis Club is winner of LTA 'Connecting Communities' Award

Sodbury Tennis Club has been named winner of the 'Connecting Communities' Award by Avon Tennis.

The LTA-backed award is based on criteria such as community engagement, positive social impact and make tennis safe, welcoming, accessible and inclusive.

Sodbury Tennis Club were invited by the Chipping Sodbury Rotary Club to a Ukranium evening, to promote the opportunities available at the club to local Ukranium residents. 2 members represented the club at a very successful evening, not only with the Ukranium residents but also the Local Council, very important links as the club strives to obtain more playing space.

The club has provided a great fun playing environment by the manner in which everyone interacts with the players, whatever their special needs or playing ability. With great use of varied equipment and session content, all players have great fun and enjoyment in a safe and friendly environment.

As well as mini, junior and adult playing and coaching sessions. There are sessions for Visibly Impaired players, juniors and adults with special needs, including a wheelchair player, not forgetting those involved with walking tennis. Sessions have now increased to twice a week. Walking tennis has also proved helpful to players returning from injury. as well as providing opportunity to socialise in the club house.

Sodbury Tennis Club will now go forward with other county winners to a regional judging panel for the south and south-west with the regional winners announced in April. The national ceremony will be held in London in July.
